ISLAMIC AL-JUMUAA REMINDER AND LEGACY GROUP (http://aljumaareminder.com/reminds about the excellent story telling of Allah:

AMAZING COMPARISON IN THE STORY OF YUSUPH AND MUSA BY NOUMAN ALI KHAN

The believing man of Fir’aun’s (Pharaoh’s) Family, who hid his Faith said:

And indeed Yusuf (Joseph) did come to you, in times gone by, with clear signs, but you ceased not to doubt in that which he did bring to you, till when he died you said: “No Messenger will Allah send after him.” Thus Allah leaves astray him who is a Musrif (a polytheist, an oppressor, a criminal, a sinner who commits great sins) and a Murtab (one who doubts Allah’s Warning and His Oneness). Those who dispute about the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allah, without any authority that has come to them, it is greatly hateful and disgusting to Allah and to those who believe. Thus does Allah seal up the heart of every arrogant, tyrant. (Qur’an 40:34-35)

This shows that in the time of Fir’aun they knew about Yusuf but many doubted and ignored Yusuf as a Prophet and Messenger of Allah.

Allah tells the best of stories:

We relate to you (Muhammad {S.A.W}) the best of stories through Our Revelations to you, of this Qur’an. And before this (i.e. before the coming of Divine Revelation to you), you were among those who knew nothing about it (the Qur’an). (Qur’an 12:3)

Indeed in their stories, there is a lesson for men of understanding. It (the Qur’an) is not a forged statement but a confirmation of (Allah’s existing Books) which were before it [i.e. the Taurat (Torah), the Injeel (Gospel) and other Scriptures of Allah] and a detailed explanation of everything and a guide and a Mercy for a people who believe. (Qur’an 12:111)

Let us now see how the story of Yusuf and Musa are related:

SURAT YUSUF (Yusuf’s story)

SURAT QASAS (Musa’s story)
Begins with a boy who is being shown love by his father and the father is afraid of being separated from his boy. Begins with a boy who is being shown love by his mother and the mother is afraid of being separated from his boy.
The boy is separated and ends up in water (a well).

The boy is separated and ends up in water (a river).

The boy is separated because of his older siblings (brothers). The reunion happens because of the older sibling (sister) who followed and looked after Musa.
The boy is in water but miraculously not only rescued but taken to a castle in Egypt The boy is in water but miraculously not only rescued but taken to a castle in Egypt
(Qur’an 12:21) – Summary: The husband (minister) retrieves the boy and took him to his wife (evil) and said that the boy’s stay should be comfortable and may benefit them or may adopt the boy as a son (Qur’an 28:9) – Summary: The wife of Fir’aun retrieves the boy and took him his husband (evil) and said that the boy would be a comfort for the eye to both of them and may benefit them or may adopt the boy as a son
Was almost killed but the idea was averted by one of the brothers as can be seen in (Qur’an 12:10) Was almost killed but the idea was averted by the wife of Fir’aun as can be seen in (Qur’an 28:9)
The reunion with the boy and father took place after many years The reunion with the boy and mother took place after a short period of time
The boy is raised in an Egyptian castle as a servant/slave The boy is raised an Egyptian castle as a prince
(Qur’an 12:22) – Summary: When Yusuf attained his full manhood, Allah bestowed on him wisdom and knowledge (the Prophethood); and thus does Allah reward the Muhsinun(i.e. good doers) (Qur’an 28:14) – Summary: When Musa attained his full strength and was perfect (in manhood), Allah bestowed on him Hukm (Prophethood, and right judgment of the affairs) and religious knowledge; and thus does Allah reward the Muhsinun(i.e. good doers)
In the very next ayah (Qur’an 12:23) after receiving wisdom and knowledge he was thrown into fitna/trial In the very next ayah (Qur’an 28:15) after receiving Hukm and religious knowledge he was thrown into fitna/trial
The fitna/trial/trouble was caused by a woman (criminal) and was indoors and private The fitna/trial/trouble was caused by a man (criminal) and was outdoors yet private
In Yusuf’s case; he didn’t do anything wrong In Musa’s case; he ended up doing something wrong. {Musa repented and the repentance was accepted by Allah as can be seen in (Qur’an 28:16)}
The women in the story of Yusuf cut their hands because of being mesmerized by his beauty Because of the cuteness of Musa Fir’aun didn’t realize he was cutting his own neck by allowing Musa in his home. Musa was the cause of Fir’aun’s kingdom to crumble.
Yusuf did nothing wrong but still went to jail Musa did something wrong but still got away
Yusuf was imprisoned in jail Musa was imprisoned in the outside world
Yusuf was away and years later he comes back Musa was away and years later he comes back
Yusuf comes back to save the kingdom Musa comes back to destroy the kingdom
Yusuf comes to prove he is innocent Musa comes back to admit he is guilty
Yusuf’s story tells you how a man and a woman should not come together Musa’s story tells you how a man and a woman should come together
The story of Yusuf begins outside of Egypt and ended in Egypt The story of Musa began inside Egypt and ended outside Egypt
Good end for the righteous (Qur’an 12:90) – They said: “Are you indeed Yusuf?” He said: “I am Yusuf, and this is my brother (Benjamin). Allah has indeed been gracious to us. Verily, he who fears Allah with obedience to Him and is patient, then surely, Allah makes not the reward of the Muhsinun(good-doers) to be lost.”

Good end for the righteous (Qur’an 28:83) – That home of the Hereafter (i.e. Paradise), We shall assign to those who rebel not against the truth with pride and oppression in the land nor do mischief. And the good end is for the Muttaqun (the pious).

IARLG Comments: Surely there are many other similarities and opposites in the story of Yusuf and Musa. These are just a few; as of the YouTube link above Nouman Ali Khan had around 53 similarities and/or opposites. There might even be more; and Allah knows best.
