Instead of writing an article for this week. We thought it would be best to just present some hadiths on a particular topic so that our readers can read on how our Prophet acted or spoke about a certain topic. Of course we will on resume writing articles but for now let us get used to reading about the Sunnah/Hadiths. Our topic for this week will be:

SOME HADITHS ON THE BEST [PART 1/4]

It was narrated from Asma’ bint Yazid that she heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: “Shall I not tell you of the best of you?” They said: “Yes, O Messenger of Allah.” He said: “The best of you are those who, when they are seen, Allah the Mighty, the Majestic, is remembered.” [Sunan Ibn Majah – Vol. 5, Book 37, Hadith 4119] [Hasan (Darussalam)]

 

It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar said: “I was with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and a man from among the Ansar came to him and greeted the Prophet (ﷺ) with Salam. Then he said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, which of the believers is best?’ He said: ‘He who has the best manners among them.’ He said: ‘Which of them is wisest?’ He said: ‘The one who remembers death the most and is best in preparing for it. Those are the wisest.’” [Sunan Ibn Majah – Vol. 5, Book 37, Hadith 4259] [Hasan (Darussalam)]

 

It was narrated from ‘Atiyyah As-Sa’di, who was one of the Companions of the Prophet (ﷺ), that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “A person will not reach the status of being one of those who have piety until he refrains from doing something in which there is no sin, for fear of falling into something in which there is sin.” [Sunan Ibn Majah – Vol. 5, Book 37, Hadith 4215] [Hasan (Darussalam)]

 

It was narrated that ‘Abdullah bin ‘Amr said:  “It was said to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ): ‘Which of the people is best?’ He said: ‘Everyone who is pure of heart and sincere in speech.’ They said: ‘Sincere in speech, we know what this is, but what is pure of heart?’ He said: ‘It is (the heart) that is pious and pure, with no sin, injustice, rancor or envy in it.’” [Sunan Ibn Majah – Vol. 5, Book 37, Hadith 4216] [Sahih (Darussalam)]

 

It was narrated from Thawban that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “I certainly know people of my nation who will come on the Day of Resurrection with good deeds like the mountains of Tihamah, but Allah will make them like scattered dust.” Thawban said: “O Messenger of Allah, describe them to us and tell us more, so that we will not become of them unknowingly.” He said: “They are your brothers and from your race, worshipping at night as you do, but they will be people who, when they are alone, transgress the sacred limits of Allah.” [Sunan Ibn Majah – Vol. 5, Book 37, Hadith 4245] [Hasan (Darussalam)]

 

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: “The Prophet (ﷺ) was asked: ‘What most admits people to Paradise?’ He said: ‘Piety and good manners.’ And he was asked: ‘What most leads people to Hell?’ He said: ‘The two hollow ones: The mouth and the private part.’” [Sunan Ibn Majah – Vol. 5, Book 37, Hadith 4246] [Sahih (Darussalam)]

 

It was narrated from Anas that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Every son of Adam commits sin, and the best of those who commit sin are those who repent.’” [Sunan Ibn Majah – Vol. 5, Book 37, Hadith 4251] [Hasan (Darussalam)]

 

It was narrated from Bahz bin Hakim, from his father, that his grandfather said: “I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: ‘You complete seventy nations, of which you are the best and dearest to Allah.’” [Sunan Ibn Majah – Vol. 5, Book 37, Hadith 4288] [Hasan (Darussalam)]

 

It was narrated from Sulaiman bin Buraidah, from his father, that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “The people of Paradise are one hundred and twenty ranks, eighty from this nation and forty from all other nations.” [Sunan Ibn Majah – Vol. 5, Book 37, Hadith 4289] [Hasan (Darussalam)]

 

It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “We are the last of the nations, and the first to be brought to account. It will be said: ‘Where is the unlettered nation and its Prophet?’ So we are the last and the first.” [Sunan Ibn Majah – Vol. 5, Book 37, Hadith 4290] [Hasan (Darussalam)]

 

Mu’adh bin Jabal said: “I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: ‘Paradise has one hundred grades, each of which is as big as the distance between heaven and earth. The highest of them is Firdaws and the best of them is Firdaws. The Throne is above Firdaws and from it spring forth the rivers of Paradise. If you ask of Allah, ask Him for Firdaws.’” [Sunan Ibn Majah – Vol. 5, Book 37, Hadith 4331] [Sahih (Darussalam)]

 

It was narrated from ‘Aishah that the Prophet said: “Your children are part of the best of your earnings, so eat from what your children earn.” [Sunan an-Nasa’i 4450] [Sahih (Darussalam)]

 

It was narrated from Abu Dharr that: The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “The best things with which you can change gray hair are Henna and Katam.” [Sunan an-Nasa’i 5077] [Sahih (Darussalam)]

 

Narrated Jabir ibn Abdullah: The Prophet (ﷺ) said: The best time for a man to go in to his family on return from a journey is at the beginning of the night. [Sunan Abi Dawud 2777] [Sahih (Al-Albani)]

 

Narrated AbuSa’id al-Khudri: The Prophet (ﷺ) said: The best fighting (jihad) in the path of Allah is (to speak) a word of justice to an oppressive ruler. [Sunan Abi Dawud 4344] [Sahih (Al-Albani)]

 

It was narrated from ‘Abudullah bin Hubshi Al-Khath ‘ami that the Prophet was asked: “Which deed is best?” He said: “Faith in which there is no doubt, Jihad in which there is no stealing of the spoils of war, and Hjijatun Mabrurah.”[1] It was said: “Which prayer is best? He said:”That in which there is ling Qunut (standing).” It was said: “Which charity is best?” He said: “The poor’s night.” It was said: “Which Hijrah (emigration) is best?” He said: “One who shuns (Hahara) that which Allah has forbidden.” It was said: “One who strives against the idolaters with his life and his wealth. “It was said: “Which death is best?” He said: “One who sheds his blood while his horse’s feet are cut with swords.” [Sunan an-Nasa’i 2526] [Hasan (Darussalam)]

 

Abdullah b. Amr reported Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: The whole world is a provision, and the best object of benefit of the world is the pious woman. [Sahih Muslim 715 k]

 

Narrated Abu Musa: Some people asked Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ), “Whose Islam is the best? i.e. (Who is a very good Muslim)?” He replied, “One who avoids harming the Muslims with his tongue and hands.” [Sahih al-Bukhari 11]
