MAGICIANS – Part 10 – Surah Rahman prohibits interaction between men and jinns
Surah Rahman is the 55th Surah and it is a Surah which keeps on reminding mankind and jinn to the various favors Allah has bestowed on them.
Ayats 13, 16, 18, 21, 23, 25, 28, 30, 32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 45, 47, 49, 51, 53, 55, 57, 59, 61, 63, 65, 67, 69, 71, 73, 75 & 77 are all similar and are all part of the Quran even if they are similar.
Since they are similar, what do they all say? It can be any and all of the following thanks to how deep the Arabic language is:
- “Then which of the favors, miracles, wonders, powers, feats, gifts, and blessings will you both deny and deliberately lie against?”
- So which of these favors do you both care to end?
- So which of these favors do you both dare to oppose?
- Just which of these favors don’t you both want to take?
This Surah from beginning to end keeps on addressing men and jinn and showing them what occurred before they were created, how they should live their lives on earth and what will occur to them on the Hereafter (Hell & Paradise).
We will focus on how men and jinn should live their lives on earth and how they should not transgress by communicating with each other.
Ar-Rahman, has taught the Qur’an (by His Mercy). He created man. He taught him eloquent speech. (Qur’an 55:1-4)
The sun and the moon run on their fixed courses (exactly) calculated with measured out stages for each (for reckoning, etc.). And the herbs (or stars) and the trees both prostrate. And the heaven He has raised high, and He has set up the Balance. In order that you may not transgress (due) balance. And observe the weight with equity and do not make the balance deficient. (Qur’an 55:5-9)
And the earth He has put for the creatures. Therein are fruits, date-palms producing sheathed fruit-stalks (enclosing dates). And also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-scented plants. (Qur’an 55:10-12)
Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? (Qur’an 55:13)
He created man (Adam) from sounding clay like the clay of pottery. And the jinns did He create from a smokeless flame of fire. (Qur’an 55:14-15)
Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? (Qur’an 55:16)
(He is) the Lord of the two easts (places of sunrise during early summer and early winter) and the Lord of the two wests (places of sunset during early summer and early winter). (Qur’an 55:17)
Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? (Qur’an 55:18)
He has let loosed the two seas (the salt water and the sweet) meeting together. Between them is a barrier which none of them can transgress. (Qur’an 55:19-20)
Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? (Qur’an 55:21)
Out of them both come out pearl and coral. (Qur’an 55:22)
Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? (Qur’an 55:23)
And His are the ships going and coming in the seas, like mountains. (Qur’an 55:24)
Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? (Qur’an 55:25)
Allah from Ayat 1 to 2 first mentions the ultimate form of Mercy and that is teaching us the Quran. If we look at Ayats 5 through 9 we see that the sun, moon, herbs/stars and trees obey Allah perfectly. Everything has been set in balance; why? In order that we may not transgress balance and observe the weight with equity and not make the balance deficient.
Ayats 10 to 12 shows us clearly that the earth has food for both men and jinn. This is because the next Ayat (13th Ayat) clearly asks both jinn and men which blessings will we dare to deny. Jinns have to come back to earth to eat since food is available in the earth, and Allah Knows Best.
Now in Ayat 14 to 15 shows how we men and jinn were created.
Allah in the 17th Ayat shows how the two easts and two wests are submissive to their Lord. They never try to interfere with one another. This parable should be reflected by the magician and the jinn; why are they communicating and working together?
Allah in Ayat 19th to 20th shows how He let loosed the two seas meeting together and between them is a barrier which none o them can transgress. This is also another parable for men and jinn to reflect on. Why are magicians and jinns applying what was brought down by angels Harut and Marut; why are they using the knowledge [to transgress the barrier] which is a test and makes them disbelievers?
In Ayat 22, Allah lets us know that in both seas, pearls and corals are present. This parable is for magicians and jinns too; stop meddling in each other’s realms. Allah has provided for both realms. Did not Allah make balance in the heavens and earth?
In the 24th Ayat, Allah is letting us men and jinn know that He can send His creations to both our realms just like how His ships are able to move over both seas. An example is of the angels who belong to Allah, act on His Commands (e.g. taking souls) and can go over both mans’ and jinns’ realms.
The magicians and the evil jinns (Satans, demons) should really deeply reflect further in this Surah. They should reflect in the whole of this Surah and in the whole of the Quran.
Next week we will In Shaa Allah conclude with this series of magicians.
And never say of anything, “I shall do such and such thing tomorrow.” Except (with the saying), “If Allah will!” And remember your Lord when you forget and say: “It may be that my Lord guides me unto a nearer way of truth than this.” (Qur’an 18:23-24)135 - IARLG - MAGICIANS - Part 10 – Surah Rahman prohibits interaction between men and jinns; Date 23rd September 2016; 22nd or 23rd Dhu al-Hijja 1437 (57 downloads)
