ISLAMIC AL-JUMUAA REMINDER AND LEGACY GROUP (http://aljumaareminder.com/) reminds on what pleases Allah should also please the believers:

Do you dislike that which also displeases Allah? If yes, that is good. It is natural for a believer to like what Allah likes. Let us look at the following:

And know that, among you there is the Messenger of Allah (SAW). If he were to obey you (i.e. follow your opinions and desires) in much of the matter, you would surely be trouble, but Allah has endeared the Faith to you and has beautified it in your hearts, and has made disbelief, wickedness and disobedience (to Allah and His Messenger SAW) hateful to you. These! They are the rightly guided ones, (this is) a Grace from Allah and His Favour. And Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise. (Qur’an 49:7)

Those who dispute about the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc) of Allah, without any authority that has come to them, it greatly hateful and disgusting to Allah and to those who believe. Thus does Allah seal up the heart of every arrogant, tyrant. (So they cannot guide themselves to the Right Path). (Qur’an 40:35)

Now, it is important to state that while believers are as described as having hate for disbelief, wickedness and disobedience (to Allah and His Messenger); it is also important to note that believers actually try their best convey the message to disbelievers, the wicked and those who disobey Allah and His Messenger so as to bring about the necessary change. Most people don’t like the truth and as believers conveying the Message; we have bear the consequences (fitnahs/trials) and view them as test from Allah:

Do people think that they will be left alone because they say: “We believe,” and will not be tested. And We indeed tested those who were before them. And Allah will certainly make (it) known (the truth of) those who are true, and will certainly make (it) known (the falsehood of) those who are liars, (although Allah knows all that before putting them to test). (Qur’an 28:2-3)

Or think you that you will enter Paradise without such (trials) as came to those who passed away before you? They were afflicted with severe poverty and ailments and were so shaken that even the Messenger and those who believed along with him said, “When (will come) the Help of Allah?” Yes! Certainly, the Help of Allah is near! (Qur’an 2:214)

Our Prophet was so grieved and worried about people not accepting the Message so much that Allah had to console him:

We know indeed the grief which their words cause you (O Muhammad SAW): it is not you that they deny, but it is the Verses (the Quran) of Allah that the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers) deny. (Qur’an 6:33)

Perhaps you would kill yourself (O Muhammad SAW) in grief, over their footsteps (for their turning away from you), because they believe not in this narration (the Qur’an). (Qur’an 18:6)

It may be that you (O Muhammad SAW) are going to kill yourself with grief, that they do not become believers. If We will, We could send down to them from the heaven a sign, to which they would bend their necks in humility. (Qur’an 26:3-4)

We Muslims should hate the evil actions and try to change the people as much as we can because we don’t know whose heart is sealed and whose heart is not sealed. It is true that we hate disbelief, wickedness and disobedience but what are doing about it? Are we conveying the Message and acting on it as well? For example Abu Sufyan strived against the Messenger of Allah for many years but later came to accept Islam. After he became a Muslim and was brought to the straight path; he is accepted as Muslim and the only thing left was to remind each other to stick to the straight path and not stray from it.

An advice from our Prophet (SAW): On the authority of Abu Sa`eed al-Khudree (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say, “Whosoever of you sees an evil, let him change it with his hand; and if he is not able to do so, then [let him change it] with his tongue; and if he is not able to do so, then with his heart — and that is the weakest of faith.” [Muslim]

How do you get to the level where you like what Allah likes and dislike that which displeases Allah? Please find the following Ayat and Sahih Hadith:

O you who believe! If you obey and fear Allah, He will grant you Furqan a criterion [(to judge between right and wrong), or (Makhraj, i.e. making a way for you to get out from every difficulty)], and will expiate for you your sins, and forgive you, and Allah is the Owner of the Great Bounty. (Qur’an 8:29)

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “Allah the Exalted has said: ‘I will declare war against him who shows hostility to a pious worshipper of Mine. And the most beloved thing with which My slave comes nearer to Me is what I have enjoined upon him; and My slave keeps on coming closer to Me through performing Nawafil (prayer or doing extra deeds besides what is obligatory) till I love him. When I love him I become his hearing with which he hears, his seeing with which he sees, his hand with which he strikes, and his leg with which he walks; and if he asks (something) from Me, I give him, and if he asks My Protection (refuge), I protect him”. [Al- Bukhari].

Note: War from Allah doesn’t have to be in this life; it could be in the Akhera just like Riba. For example:

O you who believe! Be afraid of Allah and give up what remains (due to you) from Riba (usury) (from now onward), if you are (really) believers. And if you do not do it, then take a notice of war from Allah and His Messenger but if you repent, you shall have your capital sums. Deal not unjustly (by asking more than your capital sums), and you shall not be dealt with unjustly (by receiving less than your capital sums). (Qur’an 2:278-279)

Allah also says:

So let not their wealth or their children amaze you; in reality Allah’s Plan is to punish them with these things in the life of this world, and that their sould shall depart (die) while they are disbelievers. (Qur’an 9:55)

And let not their wealth or their children amaze you. Allah’s Plan is to punish them with these things in this world, and that their souls shall depart (die) while they are disbelievers. (Qur’an 9:85)

Tell Me, if We do let them enjoy for years, and afterwards comes to them that (punishment) which they had been promised! All that with which they used to enjoy shall not avail them. (Qur’an 26:205-207)
