ISLAMIC AL-JUMUAA REMINDER AND LEGACY GROUP (http://aljumaareminder.com/) reminds via our father and mother Adam and Hawa:
LESSONS FROM ADAM & IBLIS (SATAN);
AN OVERVIEW OF IBLIS (SATAN):
- Iblis (Satan) is a jinn and not an angel. He fears Allah.
- He acknowledges that Allah created him from fire. Some disbelievers (e.g. atheists) don’t even acknowledge that Allah created them.
- He requests from Allah things that harm him and others (eg life till the day of judgement for the purpose of misleading others).
- Not ready to take responsibility and he blames Allah. Iblis (Satan) has given up on Allah’s Mercy (we are shown that he will enter the fire after everything has been settled in the Day of Judgement. This means he never bothered repenting and blames Allah for sending him astray).
And (remember) when We said to the angels; “Prostrate to Adam.” So they prostrated except Iblis (Satan). He was one of the jinns; he disobeyed the Command of his Lord. Will you then take him (Iblis) and his offspring as protectors and helpers rather than Me while they are enemies to you? What an evil is the exchange for the Zalimun (polytheists, and wrong-doers, etc). (Qur’an 18:50)
(Allah) said: “What prevented you (O Iblis) that you did not prostrate, when I commanded you?” Iblis said: “I am better than him (Adam), You created me from fire, and him You created from clay.” (Qur’an 7:12)
(Allah) said: “(O Iblis) get down from this (Paradise), it is not for you to be arrogant here. Get out, for you are of those humiliated and disgraced.” (Iblis) said: “Allow me respite till the Day they are raised up (i.e. the Day of Resurrection).” (Allah) said: “You are of those allowed respite.” (Qur’an 7:13-15)
(Iblis) said: “Because You have sent me astray, surely I will sit in wait against them (human beings) on Your Straight Path. Then I will come to them from before them and behind them, from their right and from their left, and You will not find most of them as thankful ones (i.e. they will not be dutiful to You).” (Allah) said (to Iblis) “Get out from this (Paradise) disgraced and expelled. Whoever of them (mankind) will follow you, then surely I will fill Hell with you all.” (Qur’an 7:16-18)
And (remember) when Shaitan (Satan) made their (evil) deeds seem fair to them and said, “No one of mankind can overcome you this Day (of the battle of Badr) and verily, I am your neighbour (for each and every help).” But when the two forces came in sight of each other, he ran away and said “Verily, I have nothing to do with you. Verily! I see what you see not. Verily! I fear Allah for Allah is Severe in punishment.” (Qur’an 8:48)
(Their allies deceived them) like Satan, when he says to man: “Disbelieve in Allah.” But when (man) disbelieves in Allah, Satan says: “I am free of you, I fear Allah, the Lord of the ‘Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)! (Qur’an 59:16)
What do we learn from all this? The disbelief of Iblis (Satan) was his disobedience. He spoke to Allah and acknowledges that Allah created him from fire. His pride prevented him from bowing down to Adam as instructed by Allah. His pride also prevents him from seeking repentance; his fate is sealed because he got the eternal life to mislead others and he will end up in hell as decreed by Allah.
Think! Many humans don’t acknowledge that Allah created them while Iblis acknowledges that Allah created him from fire. Humans are ordered to prostrate to Allah and yet they don’t do that due to pride while Iblis was prostrating to Allah but was too proud to prostrate to Adam (as instructed by Allah).
Satan doesn’t have to get you to disbelieve that Allah created you; all he has to do is to have you say something like, “At least I believe in Allah, so it’s not so bad if I don’t follow what he has commanded me such as prayers.”
(O you disbelievers)! Eat and enjoy yourselves (in this worldly life) for a little while. Verily, you are the Mujrimun (polytheists, disbelievers, sinners, criminals, etc). Woe that Day to the deniers! And when it is said to them: “Bow down yourself (in prayer)!” They bow not down (offer not their prayers). Woe that Day to the deniers! Then in what statement after this (the Quran) will they believe? (Qur’an 77:46-50)
AN OVERVIEW OF ADAM:
Allah knew that Adam would disobey Allah and would be sent to earth from Paradise. The proof of that can be seen in the Ayat below where Allah says he will place a Khalifa on earth before even the angels and Iblis were commanded to prostrate to Adam.
And (remember) when your Lord said to the angels: “Verily, I am going to place (mankind) generations after generations on earth.” They said: “Will you place therein those who will make mischief therein and shed blood, while we glorify You with praises and thanks and sanctify You.” He (Allah) said: “I know that which you do not know.” (Qur’an 2:30)
And (remember) when We said to the angels: “Prostrate yourselves before Adam.” And they prostrated except Iblis, he refused and was proud and was one of the disbelievers. (Qur’an 2:34)
Satan then mislead Adam and Hawa (Eve) with deception and they disobeyed their Lord in Paradise:
They said: “Our Lord! We have wronged ourselves. If You forgive us not, and bestow not upon us Your Mercy, we shall certainly be of the losers.” (Qur’an 7:23)
Allah forgave them. But let us see how Adam responded? He could have responded just like Iblis by saying something like, “Oh Allah, you knew and planned before I was even created to go on earth. It was inevitable for me to sin since you planned all this and lead me astray.”
He would have a point looking at the Ayats above. But Adam and Hawa took responsibility and repented; this was something Iblis failed to do. This is what we the Children of Adam should learn from our father Adam; let us take responsibility and repent and always try to purify ourselves while on earth since we are never 100% pure.
…So ascribe not purity to yourselves…(Qur’an 53:32)
Indeed he succeeds who purifies his ownself and indeed he fails who corrupts his ownself. (Qur’an 91:8-9)
IARLG Comments: Please read the following Ayats to better avoid disbelief
Sad. By the Quran full of reminding. Nay, those who disbelieve are in false pride and opposition. (Qur’an 38:1-2)
Verily those who dispute about the Ayat of Allah, without any authority having coming come to them, there is nothing else in their breasts except pride [to accept you (Muhammad SAW) as a Messenger of Allah and to obey you]. They will never have it (i.e. Prophethood which Allah has bestowed upon you). So seek refuge in Allah. Verily it is He Who is the All-Hearer, the All-Seer. (Qur’an 40:56)
But no, by your Lord, they can have no Faith, until they make you (O Muhammad SAW) judge in all disputes between them, and find in themselves no resistance against your decisions, and accept (them) with full submission. (Qur’an 4:65)
But when Our Ayat came to them [Fir’aun & his people], clear to see, they said: “This is manifest magic.” And they belied them (those Ayat) wrongfully and arrogantly, though their ownselves were convinced thereof [i.e. those (Ayat) are from Allah, and Musa is the Messenger of Allah in truth, but they disliked to obey Musa, and hated to believe in his Messege of Monotheism]. So see what was the end of the Mufsidun (disbelievers, disobedient to Allah, evil-doers, liars). (Qur’an 27:13-14)
[Ibrahim] said: “And who despairs of the Mercy of his Lord except those who are astray?” (Qur’an 15:56)
“O my sons! Go you and enquire about Yusuf and his brothers, and never give up hope of Allah’s Mercy. Certainly no one despairs of Allah’s Mercy, except the people who disbelieve.” (Qur’an 12:87)
He it is Who has made you successors generations after generations in the earth, so whosoever disbelieves on him will be his disbelief. And the disbelief of the disbelievers adds nothing but hatred with their Lord. And the disbelief of the disbelievers adds nothing but loss.
